Make the very most of your Manapouri tour and Fiordland adventure by jet boat, heli, and foot. Immerse yourself deep in endless views with a thrilling Te Anau jet boat ride down the majestic Waiau River. Lined by ancient beech forests found deep in Middle Earth, you’ll twist and turn down the river before emerging into the tranquil Lake Manapouri.

From there, you’ll board the heli and see the world from above as you fly over hidden lakes and spectacular peaks. Touch down on Mt Luxmore, then lace up your walking shoes for a 2.5-hour guided walk along a portion of the Kepler Track, one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. Your knowledgeable guide will share the stories of your surroundings along this wide, mostly flat trail to Rainbow Reach. Discover Fiordland forests, unique wetlands and an authentic Kiwi tramping hut along this famous Manapouri walk.

Note: We may decide to swap the hike, scenic flight and jet boat on the day if weather and operating conditions require. Please bring comfortable walking shoes, a waterproof jacket, warm clothing (including hat and gloves), sunscreen, sunhat, a camera if desired and personal medication if required. Full payment is required if cancelled within 48 hours of departure.

Arrive at Te Anau

We’ll pick you up from your Te Anau or Manapouri accommodation at 9am.

Jet boat adventure

You’ll start the day with a thrilling jet boat adventure. Twist and turn through the bends of the Waiau River, before getting dropped off at Shallow Bay on Lake Manapouri.

Pre-takeoff

From there, it’s time to get in the heli. After a safety briefing, your pilot will ensure that you are comfortable, buckled in, and have your headset on and ready to go.

Lift-off

The heli takes off, and you’re airborne. Take in the stunning sights of Fiordland National Park as you fly over the Kepler Track, learning the stories and history of the region from your pilot as you fly.

Picnic lunch

Landing down at Mt Luxmore, you’ll enjoy a tasty packed picnic lunch along your walk. If you’ve got any dietaries, please let us know in advance.

Hiking along the Kepler Track

Step foot on one of New Zealand’s famous Great Walks. Your knowledgeable guide will lead you to Rainbow Reach, sharing local insights along the way before we head back to your Te Anau or Manapouri accommodation.
