- What should I bring?
Warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, and comfortable, sturdy shoes. A camera is also a must-have to capture those stunning views during your flight. Let the pilot know if you want a group photo by the helicopter, they’ll be more than happy to help.
- When should I arrive at Te Anau Helicopter Services?
Please arrive at the Te Anau Airport at least 15 minutes before your flight departure time.
- How do I get to Te Anau Helicopter Services, and is there parking available on site?
Our base is at the Te Anau Airport, 42 Aviation Drive. We have parking facilities on-site, or we can organise transport from Manapouri or Te Anau.
- What’s your most popular flight?
In such a beautiful corner of New Zealand, all our flights feature incredible views. It’s not hard in Fiordland! Our most popular scenic flights would be the scenic flights to Doubtful Sound and Dusky Sound – the views are unforgettable.
- What is the minimum age for flights?
We can carry passengers of all ages. We have special earmuffs/headsets available to suit babies and smaller children. They’ll love the flight as much as you will.
- Do you require a minimum number of passengers for a flight to go ahead?
All scenic flights require a minimum of two passengers to go ahead. If you are flying solo, let us know and we’ll do our best to organise another passenger or group for your flight. Get in touch for other solo options.
- Does the flight include commentary?
English commentary is provided on all flights by our knowledgeable and experienced pilots. Spanish commentary can be organised with prior notice if required.
- How do you get a weather check?
All flights operate subject to weather. Passengers must call Te Anau Helicopter Services the day before departure to confirm booking details, complete weather checks, and receive confirmation of departure time.
- How many passengers can fly at one time?
We regularly cater for up to ten passengers in one group, though we can also organise flights for more people with enough warning. Minimum numbers apply, however, get in touch to discuss options for solo travel.
- Can we land in remote locations?
Te Anau Helicopter Services is proud to hold landing concessions in Conservation Areas in Fiordland, Milford Sound and Stewart Island. This means we have multiple landing locations to enjoy during your flight. We also have private access to numerous lodges, farmlands and helipads.
